Corona virus is a respiratory infection that was recently named as COVID – 19 by the World Health Organization (WHO), which is closely related to SARS and MERS. What are the symptoms, and how is the virus diagnosed?
As we all are aware, the Corona virus first broke out in China; the tests were also carried out in China. Later the diagnosis was shared with other countries.Here are signs and symptoms of infection with the new Corona virus may appear tow to fourteen days after exposure and can include:
Shortness of breath or difficulty in breathing
The severity of this new disease symptoms ranges from very mild to severe, which may also lead to death. Although understanding of this disease continues to spread, people with severe illness have been of older age or had other significant existing medical histories. This is analogous to what is seen in people who have a terrible infection with other respiratory illnesses, such as influenza.
CAUSES OF CORONA VIRUS
It’s still unclear how contagious the new Corona virus is or how it is spreading. It appears to be propagating from person to person among those who are in close contact. It may spread by respiratory droplets that release when someone with the virus coughs or sneezes.
It is not known if a person can catch the virus by touching a surface that an infected person has touched and then putting his or her hand in the mouth.
Although there is no vaccine yet to prevent infection with the new Corona virus, but you take a few precautions to reduce the risk of infection. WHO and CDC recommended following standard precautions for avoiding respiratory viruses:
- Wash your hands often with hand wash (Dettol, etc.) and water or use an alcohol-based sanitizer.
- Cover your mouth and nose with the help of a mask.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth if your hands aren’t clean.
- Avoid close contact with anyone who is sick.
- Avoid sharing dishes, glasses, bedding, and other household items if you’re sick.
- Clean and disinfect surfaces you often touch.
IS ANY TREATMENT AVAILABLE FOR CORONA VIRUS?
Well, currently there no treatment specifically approved for the disease, and also no cure for the infection, although treatments and vaccines are currently under study. Instead, treatment focuses on managing symptoms as the virus runs its course.
