One classic character that we can never get enough of is, James Bond. Several actors have portrayed this character in their way, and everybody has done justice to the role and the codename “007”.

But a Bond actor doesn’t make a Bond film. At least, not alone!

The special agent on her Majesty’s secret service would be nothing without the women standing next to him. The women who have played Bond Girls over the years were just as important to the franchise’s success – if not more so – than the actors portraying Bond!

Several women have played the role of the special agent over the years, and their character is just as important for the movie as James Bond’s. Since we adore them, let’s check out what our favorite Bond girls are up to these days!

Ursula Andress – Honey Ryder

Our very first Bond girl, Ursula Andress, gave a brilliant performance in 1962’s Dr.No. Being the first bond girl, she set high standards for future bond girls! Even today, when someone thinks of Honey Ryder, the first image that comes to their head is Ursula’s when she rises from the sea in a white bikini and Royal Nacy belt with a dagger randomly hanging on one side.

While filming the movie, the director decided to dub Ursula’s voice as she had a thick German-Swiss accent. She was an already successful artist and was multi-lingual; she could speak German, French, and Italian fluently. After her first Hollywood film, Dr. No, she turned even more successful and worked with some of the biggest names in the industry.

Ursula Andress – Now

Andress was in a relationship with American actor Harry Hamlin, after meeting him on the set of Clash of the Titans in 1979. She gave birth to their son, Dimitri Hamlin, on May 19, 1980. After she gave birth to a son at age 44, she moved into close friend Linda Evan’s home until hers was ready. Ursula Andress continues to be in the spotlight and is a sought-after celebrity. She is invited to several red-carpet events and public appearances. Her most recent public appearance was on November 2017, where she looked ultra-glamorous at a Rome Film Festival gala.

Claudine Auger – Domino

Claudine was a successful actress even before she acted in the James Bond movie Thunderball in 1965 opposite Sean Connery. She was Miss France in 1958 and held the runner’s up position in the Miss World beauty contest the same year.

Once, when Claudine Auger was vacationing at a resort in the Bahamas, she met Kevin McClory. McClory insisted that she audition for the role of Domino. The producers liked her so much that they even changed the character to fit her French origin. Despite taking classes to learn exquisite English, the film’s production ultimately decided to use Nikki van der Zyl’s services again to dub her character. However, Auger’s career did not pick up after the film. After Thunderball, Claudine’s career did not pick up in Hollywood, but she did exceptionally well in the European cinemas.

Claudine Auger – now.

She is still in the movie business and was recently a part of The Red and the Black which included another blonde girl named Carole Bouquet. Claudine Auger’s net worth as of 2019 is estimated to be $3 million. Her career in Europe was successful. She appeared alongside several other Bond girls in productions such as “Anyone Can Play” and “Black Belly of the Tarantula”. She gathered the reported amount of net worth solely from her acting profession. She has acted in more than 80 movies and serials.

Mie Hama – Kissy Suzuki

Hama worked as a bus conductor when producer Tomoyuki Tanaka spotted her. She went on to become one of the most actresses in-demand from Japan. Hama was already a celebrity before she starred in ‘You Only Live Twice’. She was a celebrated actress in Japan and performed in many critically acclaimed films. Her role in James Bond was her break into Hollywood. That same year, King Kong Escapes (1967) was released; thus, she portrayed the spellbinding “Bond-girlish” villainess Madame Piranha. Her extensive wardrobe and enchanted bed chambers contributed to the film’s “James Bond-ish” atmosphere. Additionally, just the like former two actresses, Nikki van der Zyl also dubbed Mie’s voice.

Mie Hama – now

After being a part of You Only Live Twice, she soon retired from the cinema. In most recent times she is seen working as an active environmentalist, radio and television talk show host. She married a television executive with whom she has four children. She realized that fame and fortune were not for her, ever since then, she decided to voice her opinions on important issues and become an activist. Fuji called ‘Hakone-Yamaboushi’ that built from various abandoned houses. In 2017, she released her book ‘Solitude Can Be a Wonderful Thing’ where she encourages other women to live in a way that is true to themselves, even if others oppose it.

Diana Rigg – Tracy Bond

One of the most prominent actresses to ever be a Bond girl is Diana Rigg. She portrayed the character of Tracy Bond, a charismatic and young woman. Additionally, she is also the only bond girl ever to get married.

Diana was a part of 1969’s On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, the role that landed her Tracy’s part was appearance in1960s cult series The Avengers. In the U.K., the Rigg-era Avengers was massively popular — a brightly-colored escapist kick akin to (and contemporaneous with) Adam West’s Batman series. The Avengers spawned books, comic books, and toys, and Mrs. Peel’s wardrobe made Rigg a fashion icon. Rigg was so good that the franchise’s producers wanted to sign her on for the next ten years. Unfortunately, the story eventually called for her character being assassinated. Still, that didn’t hinder Dame Rigg’s career one bit.

Diana Rigg – now

Ever since she started, Diana has had an incredible career as an actress. Off late, we have seen her she is a part of HBO’s Game of Thrones as Olenna Tyrell. There were also appearances on Dr. Who, at a time alongside her daughter. Also, in multiple stage productions and on the Broadway version of My Fair Lady. Through hard work and dedication, Diana has maintained a steady evolution in her acting profile, allowing her to play many different, iconic roles. Rigg was the author of ‘No Turn Unstoned’ (1982), an amusing collection of negative theatrical reviews—including her own. In 1994, she was made a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE). Diana has a net worth of $10 million.

Denise Richards – Christmas Jones

Denise was a prolific actress even before joining the James Bond movies The World is not Enough in 1999. Richards stated that she liked the role because it was ‘brainy’, ‘athletic’, and had ‘depth of character’, in contrast to Bond girls from previous decades. Here she portrayed the role of an American nuclear scientist named Christmas Jones, and it is one of her films of hers till date. A major blockbuster, it earned the actress a Blockbuster Entertainment for ‘Favorite Actress in an Action Film’ in 2000. From there, she was subsequently cast as the female lead in the slasher film. She proved that she had beauty with brains when she dropped the good girl stereotype in Wild Things. She landed in bigger and bigger roles throughout the decade and played a spoiled princess in Drop Dead Gorgeous where critics praised her performance.

Denise Richards – now

After performing in ‘The World is Not Enough,’ she was also a part of successful films like love actually, spin city, Two and a Half Men, etc. In 2008, she starred in her reality show titled Denise Richards: It’s Complicated. As of the year 2019, Denise Richards has an estimated net worth of around $15 million. She loves cars, and her most prized possessions are a Mercedes-Benz GL450, and a Cadillac Escalade.

Britt Ekland – Mary Goodnight

Britt was an actress and a singer when she appeared in ‘Britt’s wealth’ and her fame comes from her performance in James Bond films. Ekland is famous for her role as a Bond girl in the movie ‘The Man with the Golden Gun’ in the year 1974. Before this, she acted in films such as The Happy Thieves, Advance to the Rear and G.J. Blues, etc. Her colleagues and superiors have stated that she is a hard-working person and is committed to breaking stereotypes.

Britt Ekland – now

Already a famous actor, Britt became even more popular after the Bond movie. She also wrote an autobiography in 1980 in which she said that her life was eventful and full of adventures. Although her acting career slowed in the 1980s, Ekland had continued to frequent her Hollywood scenes, making occasional T.V. appearances and even competing on the reality show “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!”

She also had the rare opportunity to see her own life unfold on-screen when Charlize Theron portrayed her in “The Life and Death of Peter Sellers.” The made-for-TV film won a Golden Globe and nine Emmys. Ekland was recently spotted in February 2019 in Los Angeles, where she greeted excited fans at a celebrity autograph convention.

Shirley Eaton – Jill Masterson

Just like the other Bond’ actresses, Eaton was a celebrity even before she joined the franchise, with the 1964 movie, ‘Goldfinger.’ However, her character is best known for its iconic death scene in the film, where she was assassinated by being covered in gold paint from head to toe. Her real fame came with her death as ‘Jill Masterson’ in Goldfinger, a character who died about 20 minutes into the film. Her gold-painted image became iconic as it appeared everywhere, including on the cover of ‘Life’ magazine.

Shirley Eaton – now

After the movie Goldfinger, Shirley took a break from her acting career to commit to being a mother. But strangely there were rumors that she died while filming the gold-covered scene. She appeared in a 2003 episode of MythBusters to help dispel the urban legend of her death. After retirement, she settled into family life with her husband Colin Rowe, a building contractor whom she had married in 1957, and her two sons, Grant and Jason. She went to art school, where she learned painting and sculpting. She was happy to produce art, photography, and write. In 1987, she moved to the south of France, where Roger Moore was her neighbor.

She played the role of Andrea Anders in ‘The Man with the Golden Gun’ in 1974 and then was cast as Octopussy and played the title role in the film. She also made a cameo in ‘A View to Kill’. Though she studied acting and worked hard on cinema, it was a generally known fact that she was far more successful as a model than as an actress. Even though she played the title role in the James Bond film Octopussy (1983), the audience doesn’t see her face, until 1 hour and 9 minutes of the film. That could explain why she was nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category at the Saturn Awards, instead of in the Best Actress category. She lost the award to Candy Clark in Blue Thunder (1983).

Maud Adams – now

Maud has always been in the show business. After the Bond movie, she hosted and directed a Swedish show called Kafe Lulea. She earns this hefty sum of money through her successful career as an actress. Likewise, she adds some of the money to her net worth through endorsements and advertisements. Not to mention, the films that she played until now are earning well in the box office. The film, The Man With The Golden Gun where she starred as Andrea Anders earned $20, 972,000 in the box office.

Jones was an international supermodel before she portrayed the role of May Day in A View to Kill. May Day is a fictional bodyguard, lover and enforcer employed by billionaire Max Zorin. She acts as the secondary antagonist of the 1985 James Bond film ‘A View to a Kill’. This character possesses superhuman strength, a trait that became more convincing with the casting of Jones, who has an impressive physique. Grace is one of the few actresses who has had an incredible career both before and after the Bond movie. Also, whose success in the industry cannot be merely attributed to the Bond movie. She shut down the runway to the tune of her own song, ‘Pull Up to the Bumper’.

Martine Beswick – Zora/Paula Caplan

Martine brilliantly portrayed Zora, who was one of two fictional gypsy girls fighting for the love of the chief’s son in the 963s Bond film, From Russia with Love. People also remember her for her fight with another Bond girl Aliza Gur.

Paula Caplan was a fictional intelligence operative employed by the British Secret Service and based in the Bahamas. The character was seen in the 1965 James Bond film ‘Thunderball’ Despite her name being spelled wrong on screen, i.e., ‘Martin’ Beswick instead ‘Martine’, she remained one of the most charismatic Bond girls to have ever acted on the big screen.

Jill was a child star, and she continued to be in this profession even after she grew up. Not many people can make it so far, but Jim is an exception. She was so famous in the 1960s that there was not one star that she did not work with back then, be it Stephen Boyd, Frank Sinatra, etc.

Tiffany Case at first seems like a good adversary for Bond, where she checks his fingerprints to make sure he is Peter Franks. However, as the film progresses, this intelligent, informative character falls foul leading to an almost blundering hindrance. Tiffany seems to change ‘sides’ several times throughout the film, depending on which situation seems to suit her best. What appears to be an interesting character at the start of Diamonds Are Forever, turns out to be average, despite Jill St. Johns talent. She launched her cookbook, ‘The Jill St. John Cookbook’, in 1987.
